Abdul Latif Jameel Motors Secures Toyota Gold Award for 13th Consecutive Year

Abdul Latif Jameel Motors, Toyota’s authorized distributor in Saudi Arabia since 1955, has achieved a remarkable milestone by winning the prestigious Gold Award in Toyota Motor Corporation’s Distributor Award Program for the 13th consecutive year.

The recognition highlights the company’s exceptional performance across Sales, After Sales, and Joint Priority Theme activities, reinforcing its position as one of Toyota’s most successful global partners.

“Winning this prestigious award for the 13th year in a row is another milestone that reflects our team’s outstanding efforts and passion for understanding our guests’ needs,” said Hassan Jameel, Chairman of the Board of Managers of Abdul Latif Jameel Motors, in a statement following the announcement.

The company’s consistent success is attributed to its implementation of the Japanese Kaizen principles of continuous improvement, which have become deeply embedded in its operational philosophy.

Masaru Shimada, General Manager of India & Middle East Division at Toyota Motor Corporation, praised the achievement: “Abdul Latif Jameel Motors’ remarkable performance in the past year is a testament to their hard work, creativity, and passion for excellence.”

The Saudi-based company has transformed significantly under the leadership of Hassan Jameel, who heads domestic operations for Abdul Latif Jameel in the Kingdom. A graduate of Sophia University in Tokyo with a Bachelor’s degree in International Economics and holding an MBA from London Business School, Mr. Jameel has been instrumental in driving the company’s digitalization efforts.

“This achievement inspires us to push the boundaries and continue striving for innovation and excellence,” Mr. Jameel noted, emphasizing the company’s commitment to exceeding customer expectations.

The relationship between Abdul Latif Jameel and Toyota dates back nearly seven decades, beginning when Hassan’s grandfather, the late Abdul Latif Jameel, first contacted Toyota Motor Corporation in the mid-1950s to import vehicles into Saudi Arabia.

That partnership has since evolved into one of the most successful automotive distribution relationships globally, with Abdul Latif Jameel becoming one of the largest independent Toyota distributors worldwide, selling nearly half a million new vehicles annually at its peak.

The company’s success with Toyota exemplifies its broader business approach, which Hassan Jameel has previously described as that of a “75-year-old startup,” combining established expertise with entrepreneurial agility.

Senior executives from Jameel Corporation and partner organizations, including Toyota and JCCME, stand together for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the opening of the company’s new Tokyo office.

Founded in 1945 as a single gas station in Jeddah, Abdul Latif Jameel has grown into a global investor and diversified business operating across multiple sectors including mobility, real estate, financial services, and energy, with a presence in more than 30 countries and employing over 11,000 people of 65 nationalities.

Industry analysts note that the company’s continued excellence in automotive distribution provides a strong foundation for its expansion into emerging sectors, particularly in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 economic diversification plans.
