His advice to the next generation was unfiltered. “I would say don’t believe any of this nonsense that we’re transitioning out of energy,” Warren said during the Hart Energy LIVE interview. “We’re not. That can’t happen, it’s impossible, but we are never going to run from the rhetoric. So I would say for young people, don’t buy off on that. You’re too smart.”

Energy Transfer’s Reach

The breadth of Energy Transfer‘s operations lends a concrete dimension to Kelcy Warren’s argument. The company operates more than 90,000 miles of pipeline infrastructure across 38 states and into Canada, moving natural gas, crude oil, natural gas liquids, and refined products between production regions and consumption centers. Its terminalling and storage assets along the Gulf Coast are among the most capacious in the country. Energy Transfer also holds ownership of Sunoco LP, extending its reach into fuel distribution.

Warren has been building this network since the mid-1990s, when he co-founded Energy Transfer. Before that, he worked at Lone Star Gas Company and various other midstream firms, gaining the technical and commercial knowledge that would later define his approach to growth. He earned a civil engineering degree from the University of Texas at Arlington, and his roots in the East Texas oil patch informed his understanding of energy as a physical, operational reality.
